Courtney Giovinazzi, born 1968. After receiving her BFA from the Art Institute of Boston in 1990; Giovinazzi studied privately in a five year program under the tutelage of Sam Feinstein in Dennis, Massachusetts. In 1996 Courtney launched a career as a successful decorative painter and muralist in Brewster, Massachusetts. Inspired by the northern coast of California with its wonderful cities and diverse people Giovinazzi left her native home of Cape Cod in the year 2000 to pursue a career in art in San Francisco.

In the years that Courtney lived and painted in San Francisco, she developed a unique painting style fusing the modernist fundamentals of the German born teacher and painter, Hans Hoffman with the fresh and inspirational look of the California plein air painters. Courtney is influenced by Cezanne and Delacroix for their approaches to space and color, respectively. She also looks to Bonnard for inspiration.

Courtney approaches all of her artwork though color and light, no matter what the piece is conveying. Every painting emerges from the perspective and relationship of the colors before evolving into its final form. She strives to light a painting through color, using color to light her objects from within. She paints in a classical manner and does not limit herself to one subject matter, but rather pursues several genres including landscapes, still-life, interiors and abstracts. Courtney is drawn to nature-based themes as it provides an overabundance of color palette options. She prefers acrylics on canvas as it best displays her love of color.

Today, Courtney maintains a studio in Bath, Maine where she lives with her husband and three children. Courtney's paintings are held in many private collections across the United States.
